OMG Rain finally!!!

Finally Rain hit Delhi yesterday welcoming the mosoon is here a notch before 3 days. Delhites were really waiting for rain with a bated breath. City received sporadic Rain and the sky is no more azure and bright! Its cloudy, wet, partially dark and its sprinkling drops on us. Yippie! Monsoon is here. Delhites really know to celebrate the season.

Rain wiped out the heat of Summer completely. Spotted many couple walking hands in hands on the lush green grass carpet of India Gate. A pair just kissed eachother covering the umbrella! This is so bollywood. No it is not. It is Delhi and its free emotion. People are buying bhelpuri and all sorts of snacks  from the hawkers ignoring the cocktail of their snack and Rainwater. Ecstatic Rain and euphoric Delhites.

Its certainly a respite from the plus 42 degrees unbearable temperature. Families are out at India Gate with their children. The happy mother is buying her children their favourite Icecream.

The begger boy is also not deprived. He is gorging on some momos bought him by some genuine soul.
School kids are out and running on the sidewalk chasing eachother in the cheering rain. Oh Delhi you look so good and so are your folks.

A welcome relief from the scorchy heat has not stopped our senior citizens from the mauj masti. They have flocked up under the tree or sheds during their early evening stroll in Lodi Garden. And some are even doing their Rain walk. Ofcourse we love getting wet.

Corporates are out in Cannaught place from their airconditioned office and loudly chatting and walking along. Fianlly a much deserved break from the artificial weather!

A bliss, happiness or fun galore! Delhites enjoyed it all!

Real Fakes: Spot them!

Delhites flaunt brands. They are the usher of India Fashion. You can find people strutting in Gucci, LV, Prada almost in every corner of this walled city. Almost entire India gets clothes supply from Delhi. There are factors like variety, style and the costeffectiveness which pull people to Delhi for shopping. With mushrooming malls with designer clothing stores, accessories life cant just get any bigger or better. Splurging is all you do for your happiness. But are you sure that you are buying the original stuff or the replica? You must determine the authenticity before purchasing your stuff if you are not buying from the standalone branded store.

There are many ways to distinguish actually.

Websites: Never buy superbranded stuff from websites. Incase you are serious please check for the permission before buying. Ask thenm to mail you the permission copy from the respective designer. Do not be fooled. They just want to cheat your money by giving you a fine fake copy. The ONLY authorized site by Louis Vuitton is eLUXURY.com. And there is nothing called clearance sale on website. No well known brand would actually clear their stuff. Dont be gullible.

Stiches: Have a close look of the thing that you are buying. May it be bag or belt or a nice dress. Designers always inspect and test their stuff before putting them for purchase. They do a strong quality check of all their stuff. They will be absolutely flawless. Make sure that no strings have come out or some seams are missing. It does not happen actually when you buy an authentic brand.

China town: Now you know it. You are actually here becuase you want to buy fake stuff. The word "Chinatown" speaks it all and its so self explainatory. Nothing more to say.

Licensed Copies: They are NOT counterfieted items but be extra cautious while buying them. Buy them ONLY from the store. The licensing allows the brands like "Guess" to copy the Trangular lebel from "Prada". Only the word "Guess" is replaced with "Prada". Another example is "Guess" copying the "C" design of "Coach". They just replace it with a twist of G. Its difficult to distinguish a fine copy but if you are a regular buyer and have an eye for original stuff you will easily be able to figure it out.

Huge discounts: Please be aware that there is nothing wholesale or huge discounts thrown at your designer's store. Gucci or Prada will never be on huge sale like 50%. Loius vuitton is out of question. They have their own clientele and quality which doesnt bend them to go for sale.

I myself spotted good fakes at the bylanes of Karol bagh, Malls of Gurgaon or even at the flea markets. The most sellable fakes are Ed Hardy, Christian Audiger,CK, Armani and Reebok in New Delhi. So please watch what you are buying and from where you are buying! It's not only an investment in buying originals but it also boasts your confidence level. Surely you want it! Beleive you.

"Shaitan" of Mumbai hits Delhi; A Preview

A Bunch of college students on Delhi Metro are deciding on which movie to go for. Finally they agreed on "Shaitan" and alight at the Saket station. I am so happy. Finally I have some bubbly company at the Cinema. The feeling is so uplifting. But you will have a different picture of the youth when you watch it in the silver screen.

Shaitan tells the story of five youngsters from the upper strata of Mumbai. They are young, loaded and free on the road of speed driving in an expensive Hummer. And yes coccaine. The new addition in drugs scene. But soon they realise that they are in a delusive track. Good times dont last forever. They get themselve into a terrible crime and to cover this up they raise ransom by pretending to abduct their new cool buddy "Amy" played by Kalki Koechlin.

Shaitan reflects the dark sides of the teenagers of any Metro city. They are aggresive, cruel, edgy, sexual and definitely selfish. They narrate the "uber cool" factor and they know no boundaries and live life to the fullest with maximum excitement. Wild Mumbai and so are their children of New Gen.

The set up is awesome. It makes you feel as if you are watching an eclectic Jamie Blanks' flick set in hollywood. Hollywood and bollywood are both spelled in same breathe. So look out for suspense, fun, harsh reality,  lots of tension, some spine chilling and some "heart in your mouth" scene for 2 and half hours.

The best part is there are no main particular protagonists rulling in this film. There are no heroes or heroines. Everyone leaves their best impressions. No romantic songs in this movie yet the sountrack is awesome.

Rajeev Khandelwal plays the cop who chases the youngsters and finally nails them down has definitely focussed performance. Kalki's expression and her acting is definitely talked about. Above all everyone makes their presence felt in their acting throughout.

It is a must watch flick for you. In the matter of fact, it's a manifestation of what's happening around us in today's India. So get Real. You dont get to see much genre like this in bollywood cinamatic mileu so its definitely worth one watch.

Koffee with Karan. Grand End of Season 3(Delhi's most talked about show amongst the youth)

(This one was written 3 months back)

Koffee with Karan concluded its season 3 with huge success and TRP counts. Indeed why not? When the whole A listed bollywood stars indulge in a spectacular chatty session with the wittiest host Karan Johar it has to be talked about . Season 3 saw more number of the bollywood debutants this time which was not the case in the last seasons. They all gave us a good laugh, good time and ofcourse a view to their personal life to some extent while they dished out their dirt darting on a national tv. How daring! It was fun. It's the kind of show you just watch and feel happy about it and then forget and go to sleep but again discuss the same on the very next day at work.

Karan is an excellent host for a chat show. No comparison to the super famous westerners. But he has his way to go buttery, fluttery with the guests and take out some craziest, wackiest answers from their mouth. Or they are just willing to give it all. The Bollywood's pinup hunk John Abraham says he is not good in bed becuase he loves to break bed. Saving the private comments whlist Ranveer Singh declared that Anushka has ushered him from a child to a boy. Direct questions and too much detailing answers make the entire show very saucy and make you glued to the tv for  1 hour. Or should it last more than that?

A sneak peek to the boring side of the show. Yes at times it feels very shallow and childish to hear the questions or even the expressions. Karan flatters the guests more than he throws questions to them. He complimented Aisharya Rai in the show for atleast 50 times that she is the most beautiful woman in the world. And she giggled like a child  each time at 37 years of age. At times it shows that Karan just likes the gossip and the look-good factor of the bollywood fraternities. Thats all. He does not care about the answers.

Turn to its dressy side. No wonder everyone had a super star effect. Karan is impeccable with a dapper don look with his awesomely stitched suits in every episodes. Come on he has to look the best. He is the anchor. Kareena looked the best and very different than others. Others looked like clones practically. Almost everyone wore off shoulder dresses. Best dressed male guest had to be definitely Hrithik Roshan with his button down pink shirt  and his slim fit Armani jacket. He was definitely a stunner.
One after one shocking answers were relentlessly coming on way as Rani chose Sanjay over Karan for her best film directors. Aisharya Rai sheepishly confessed that Kareena is a better actor than Priyanka Chopra. Vidya Balan was really upset by the comments of her fans on her dressing sense. But Rapid Round brought the best shockers and most secret revalations. Saif played the best describing himself  as "reliable, strong and very long"" leaving Kareena totally awed in the show. You will not get such answers from any shows others than sipping Koffee with Karan. Hot coffee and hottest chat. What a combo.

Season 3 was definitely entertaining, interesting and lot of fun. But it left us with some trivia. Why do all the A listers come to his show? Why are the guests same in every season? Why is every guest mad about getting the hamper which just contains the coffee, cookies, chocolate(not imported), an Ipad and a blackberry torch phone. Probably Karan will not leave us haunted with these in season 4. We hope not.

Archived Fashion: Bring it on!

Going down the memory lane you might just want to pick up some quintessential Gregory Peck Hat of 1950s to show up  bit differently at your friends' get together. A button down shirt from 1970's is so awesome. Or you might just want those frilled dresses of Dimple Kapadia from Sagar. The head band of Parveen Babi from Shaan is just another great gear which you want to keep in your closet. But where will you go to find one? Finally you have to count on your neighborhood tailor or plead your designer friend to stich one for you if you are lucky. You have to look the best in the Retro Party.

Vintage clothes are such a rarity in Delhi and there is practically no shop exclusively for vintage clothes. You can find a bit of this and that from many places as there is not much choice. Marks n Spencer keeps some nice cuts of 1960s and 70s at their stores, not many though. You can find some crazy vintage accessories at Miss Jo. That too a handful. Levis has stocked up some denims from previous decades. Not much to choose from a wide range because there is no wide range.

"I wanted to buy a pair of Breeches like those you saw in 1960's cowboy movies but I didnt find any store in Delhi. I searched almost everywhere. Finally I got it stiched from the very famous Gypsy Tailor", says Manav a very fashion conscious guy and a naty dresser too.

Vintage style gives you a complete make over and stands you out in the crowd. You look so sleek and elegant. Delhi certainly needs a speciality store. The fashionable population is huge in Delhi and ints multiplying everyday so we actually need some chain of stores. Every major International city has vintage clothing stores. There are plenty in London for instance. Then why not one in Delhi? Delhi is flocking with tallented designers but again there is no particular designer who sells only vintage clothes. Get inspired. Create a line. The need is something which is typically a hangover from Victorian age. Lets bring the previous decades back in Delhi.

"Old is Gold" and this statement applies to many. From wine, to furnitures...why not clothing? Keeping the parity of  the varities of contemporary style Vintage clothing will definitely make a good come back. So lets wait and welcome  the oldies. Come back Audrey hepburn, Dev Anand, Clint Estood, Rita Hayword....and many more fashion divas. The list is too big to fit in. Delhi wants you and we are waiting!

Love me do: Delhi Metro

"Tunnel of Love oh of Love". Indeed its worth falling in love in the tunnel of Delhi Metro if not many times then atleast for once. Mark Knofler would certainly love to do a concert here or would atleast dedicate this song to Delhi Metro if he travelled once. Love makes the world go around and so is doing our Delhi Metro. Such a romantic route connected in wide spread Delhi that you are bound to fall in love with the Metro. Why not with the passenger who you see daily in the metro on your way to office? Love happens anywhere then why not in Metro?

Same group of commuters take the same train at the same given time. Some are headed to office, some to their college. All known faces. Faces of Delhi....why not faces of love? Some muster the courage to talk to the one they like and there the story goes. Others look into eyes. Let the eyes do the talking and then eventually they talk and end up at the coffee shops at the Metro station.

"We spoke to eachother nearly after two months of traveling together and my life completely changed. Thanks to Delhi Metro, I met my love. He is the guy I was waiting for. I would have approached him if he hadn't taken any steps towards me." Some online comments read like that.

It all starts with greeting each other. If the other person likes he or she would definitely greet in return or would atleast smile. And the game starts. The waiting game. An eager wait to meet the person the very next day in the train. And the days go on and so does the love. The new platform to fall in love. Great going Metro! Surely you have heard about the love stories happening in the buses. Now hear them happening in Metro!

To top up the entire love scene of Delhi Metro, a 24 year old Management student introduced a website that helps the fellow passengers to greet, meet and have fun with in Delhi Metro. Please have a look at www.metromates.com. Signing up is easy and you will surely be able to find someone traveling in your route. This does not only cater to the straight people. This site also have the same option for people with alternate lifestyle. Now sky is the limit. Such a smart usage of technology.

But delhites are always demanding. They want a seperate car in the train for the couples. Delhi Metro already has a seperate car for the ladies and it is a known fact that the last compartment of the train is for the gay people to meet eachother. Now the latest need is a seperate compartment for the couples. Too much to ask for. Will this be fulfilled? King of wishful thinking! Dream on Delhi!

Married "Happy" Delhi Designers

Its legal in India since 2009 and its naturally legal in fashion industry since fashion evolved in India. Then what's the big deal? Famous gay fashion fraternities still cannot come out. Looks like the historic ammendment of Indian Law has not changed much in Indian Fashion Industry's gay community. But babies, we all know about you! I mean they are so obvious. Its so funny to unbeleive. They wear pink trousers, big glasses, skinny jeans but still they are so hesitant in terms of accepting their sexual orientation. They think it affects their day to day life and their correspondence and dealings with their clientele. And to put a cover of the whole thing they get married to girls. Isn't the act sheepishly foolish? But this is the latest trend in the industry. Its trite but this is the rock bottom truth.

A famous south Delhi designer has made a top notch fashion line with his boyfriend and he also married a girl. And the funniest part is they all live together. Oh My God! Are you guys enjoying life? Isn't it gut-wrenching to keep such aching secret when whole world knows about it. Or you just gulp it with a dose of fame? But its so difficult to digest.  We can see. We know its your business and you dont want anyone to intrude. But why a cover up? Why not living alone or with your boyfriend. Its absolutely normal. Poor the girl who has to put up with all these. I m sure the happiness is compensated somehow.

There are many like them on the both sides of Yamuna River.

"I work with lot of gay designers and yes they are mostly married. I have no clue about the reason but they look happy. Or may be they just wear a musk", says a make up artist who does not want to be named here.

But does it really affect their business if they are open gays? This is not a buyable justification. The guru of Indian fashion industry is gay and he is so cool and carries it all so well. And he is the best seller by the way. The whole India admires him.

Or do they just get married under pressure? This too is not real. come on guys, you are the usher of the upcoming fashion legends. You are brave, you have made it big in the fashion scene. So love yourself and don't fool around with your life because we love you and many of us are hugely influenced by you. Life is beautiful and be proud of what you are. Its specially easy in your industry. Isn't it? Life, love, sex and dhoka. Or is it all dhoka? Now thats a food for thought for yourself!

Cool Delhi Heat.....Beat it with a grin!

Summer at its peak. You are hallucinated with the intense heat. You are sitting in the ac car but still feel the heat. Looking out from the glassy window from the office leaves you sweaty even if the temperature is controlled inside. You are the king. You are luxurious and priviledged. lets take a look at the outer world. Yes our Delhites are still chilling and enjoying the summer with or without the option to remain frozen in Airconditioned envioronment. Yes this is a secret about this walled city. It definitely offers pleasant places in this mad balmy weather.

Lodi Garden: One of the biggest landmark in Delhi and known for its aesthetic upkeep and the tombs inside sarrounded by plush green neighbourhood. Take a heritage walk or relax on those wooden benches. You will see many like you resting and relaxing. Looking at some pretty faces will uplift you. You are away from your jostling city and retaliating is fun in this situation.  I assure you won't feel much of Delhi heat in the midst of greenery and the brooks and the cool people around. Enjoy the moment.

India Gate: It may be difficult to schelp all the way to India Gate in this heat but when you reach your body heat will melt. It is hot for sure. but take a look at the water park and join boating. Looking at the breathtaking India Gate from your boat will give you some cool effect. And you will enjoy every bit of it. Beleive you!

Netaji Subhash Park: By this time you have crossed a number of lanes and streets and you may be tired and want to really relax and unwind. Dont push things to hard in this summer. Its a quiet afternoon. Just step inside this park and settle yourself in a bench under some cool tree. See who approaches you! A turban wearing guy would like to whisper in your ear with his magic wand. Yes the ear cleaner. Its really an amazing experience. Take a look around and you might see some foreigners are getting the same done. He opens his treasure box and takes out lots of pins, needles and nice aromatherapy oil. He loves to chat and he might share some real Delhi secrets which you have never heard. You are assured that you will start hearing things much better than ever before. Try it.

Red Ford: A worldly monument. It does not need its introduction. There is no fan inside but its cool, really cool. Hundreds of tourists are walking around, watching the architechture. Try talking to the walls. They talk to you. Its a really nice break in this heaty afternoon. You will definitely enjoy it.

You come out and see the sun down in bustling crowd of chandni chowk. Finally sun hides behind the Red Ford. You feel the air is much cooler. With some real cool memories you plunge inside the sea of crowd. Beating Delhi heat in this maddenning afternoon was definitely an experience! Wasn't it? OMG!

Dard-e-Dilli

"No pain No gain"....it was something like this what Lina's top read when she was spotted in an elite, hip happening water hole of GK2. She appeared very different clad in leather corset, tight rugged denim, a pair thigh high black boots and a huge  strappy watch on her right hand wrist. You are mistaken she wasn't sporting a look "rockchick" look, she actually wore a s&m suit. The only thing missing was a whip in her hand. Probably she tried to carry it but the club rules may have stopped her from doing so. Many people these days try this new(not really, scientists compiled the case studies in 1886 ) tryst of enjoyment. The concept refers to gratification from receiving the infliction of pain or humiliation between two consensual partners.

26 years old Jess says "I love to beat up my boyfriend and he quite enjoys it". WOW, this sounds quite similar when Sarika said "Love or hate? Well, you can hate me. I like that way". Is it really fun? It must be. You have to try it to like it. "We were so bored doing stuff in conventional way and our life literally sucked till the time my husband returned from Argentina and introduced me to this new act. It spiced up our life and its so distressing", says Ravina(name withheld on request).

Remember the scene from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in which Rani Mukherjee goes to a S&M store in Newyork to buy her Masochist outfits to surprise Abhishekh Bacchan. So its slowly making its entry to the lives of Indians.

S&M accessories are hitting up the stores in Delhi too. We are not really lagging behind. If its not New york then its New Delhi. Most upmarket Lingerie  shops keep such stuff and they are pretty fast moving. Such shops can be spotted in Defence colony, Khan Market, Saket etc. "We face huge demands from clients starting from Nailed boots to sexy handcuffs", Says the shop owner who frequently visits western countries just to stock up his store.

Surprisingly not much people know what s&m is but they very much practise it. What's in a name? However no hindi translation has been found to this terminology. Come on its India and things take time to come into the light. Suddenly my phone rings,
"Hey I'm traveling to Amsterdam, do you still fancy that Isey Miyake perfume? I can get that for you" Ravi says, my very close friend.
I take a long pause. Then I speak up.
"Get me a pirate eye cap and a cowboy whip".
OMG what did I just say!

Delhi Slut Walk: Come on India!

You are invited. You have to strut your skimpiest, sexiest clothes that reveal the most of your womanhood. Bare it or bear it? Yes its "Slut Walk". So dress like a slut and be cool about it. The bottomline is exhibit being sexy without being branded. Come and claim your right to wear what you want.

Slut Walk has already hit in Chicago, Edmonton, Sweden and Amsterdam. The organisers are encouraging this all over the world and the cordial invitation reached Delhi too. So you will get to see lot of Malika Sherawats, Malaika Arora and also good number of Erin Brockovichs and Elle Woods in the parade.

But is Delhi game for it? Is India up for it without receiving any opposition signal from any political party? Social networking site such as Facebook already received 500 Likes and the initiative has just started. Its a good start you see. And it says "Delhi: Because we've had enough. Walk, Roll, Holler or Stomp with us..Join Slut Walk". This is really a bold step.

An ardent fan says "My ass is innocent, it gives No excuse for assault.
And if it makes you tent your pants
It's really not its fault!
(If Madonna can wear it, so can I)"

No wonder Delhi is up for it after seeing so many supporters going gaga for the parade already. Lets wait and watch out for something sexy, stomping and romping. OMG Delhi, you have been really slutty lately.

Baba or Babe!

It started with anti government gestures, then a mob, a rackus with a mass fight with the police and finally the Baba fled donning a salwar-kameez to save his Godly skin. What a showdown! Respecting women by wearing salwar suit? Well thats what he defended.

"We cannot buy his statement, this is definitely a foolish act. This is something not expected from baba. Saints dont runaway wearing woman's suits. This is such a cowardly act.
"
"We were all totally gobsmacked at the action taken by the Delhi Police, He had no action but to flee. It has affected his image."

OMG Delhi is getting mixed reviews. The whole thing is so funny. But take a look at the picture of Baba wearing salwar kameez. It fitted him like gloves. Come on look at the cuts and curves! Baba is looking handsomely pretty minus the beard. And there is no sign of objection in his eyes during the take. Or did he just love that? Too bored of wearing the saffron piece?

OMG Whats happening!

Ode to Delhi

New Delhi here you are!  Despite its extreme climate, abusive mouths, loud people, strange mentalities and blah blah.....I just love Delhi. This is not where I was born but its still my home. I get a strange pull from Delhi whenever I m away from here for a day or two, I get sick of Delhi but I still love it to bits. A city with a rarity, a city with fatal attractions...a city where you have to keep coming back for reasons or no reasons..OMG....Its my Delhi...

Delhi, you are my favourite drug! You sexy thing!
